Record Store Day came into being in 2007 when over 700 independent stores in the USA came together to celebrate their unique culture. The UK followed suit and 2015 will see the eighth celebration of the UK’s unique independent sector. This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists across the globe make special appearances and performances. Festivities include performances, meet & greets with artists, DJ’s, in store quizzes and many other events.
Once again Capital Sound will be providing the sound for Record Store Day, this year there will be seven artistes performing on the Berwick Street stage, Young Knives, John Cooper Clarke, 2 Bears and Gang of 4 being amongst them.
The system will be a Martin W8LM Line array with Martin 218x subs, being controlled by a Yamaha M7CL @ FOH and Yamaha LS9/32 on monitors, engineers for the day will be Anthony Best and Dave Poynter with Richard Wonnacott and Sam Cunningham overseeing changeovers.
Soho’s free live music festival kicks off on Saturday 18th April at 12pm with performances throughout the day as well as exclusive vinyl and cd releases.
