Record Month for Live Events as UK Festival Season Returns

The return of Live Events has brought some of the busiest weekends on record at Capital Sound, SSE Audio, Wigwam and BCS Audio.

After fifteen months of virtually no live work, the lifting of restrictions on large public gatherings has seen a huge influx of projects for Capital Sound and its UK partners. With the first half of the festival season cancelled, promoters and artists have moved quickly to make the most of the remaining summer months, with many events from June and July rescheduled for late August, September and even into October.

The week up to the August Bank Holiday weekend produced some impressive statistics. Across the UK group we had 156 separate bookings, that’s everything from a dry hire of some DJ kit right up to a festival main stage system. A total of 65 articulated lorries were tipped and loaded from our four locations. Simultaneously the group supplied Reading and Leeds, Shrewsbury Folk Festival, Creamfields, Victorious, All Points East, South Facing and LWE at Tobacco Dock over one weekend. As well as festival systems control packages were supplied for artists including Stormzy, Post Malone, Bombay Bicycle Club, Coldplay and many more.

UK Group Operations Manager Stefan Phillips commented, “In the space of a month we went from one extreme to another. In July a truck in our yard was worthy of a social media post, by the end of August it was a traffic jam. We used the preceeding months to have all the equipment ready to go once restrictions lifted. We ensured all our rigging was certified, kit was PAT tested and the desks, amps and speakers were all tested and repaired were necessary. Nobody knew the effects of leaving everything in a warehouse for 18 months but by and large everything was in good condition. A few batteries had failed but that was about it.”

“What does deserve mentioning is the fantastic work that has been put in by our staff and freelancers to deliver these projects. Without their skill, experience and dedication we simply wouldn’t have been able to achieve what we have in recent weeks – a huge thank you to you all!”
