Britain’s best-loved rockers Status Quo returned to the Royal Albert Hall on 30 April 2015 as part of their Aquostic Live 2015 UK tour.
The tour follows the release of 2014′s Aquostic (Stripped Bare), Quo’s first ever acoustic album, which charted at number 5 – giving the band their highest chart placing for 18 years.
Aquostic Live saw Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt, Andrew Bown, John ‘Rhino’ Edwards and Leon Cave build on the incredible success enjoyed by the album and featured a full set of Quo classics that are immediately recognisable, yet demonstrably re-engineered.
The last time Status Quo headlined at The Royal Albert Hall was in 1994 for a Princes Trust show, “the system then was flown Martin F2 but with a large ground stack, as requested by Andy Taylor who was FOH at that time, you couldn’t get away with that design these days” commented Martin Connolly who has handled Quo’s account since 1993.
The Aquostik shows are simply Quo playing their songs in the format that has become known as “unplugged” featuring a 10 piece band plus Quo, “this is the last date of the tour, we have supplied a Martin MLA-C system throughout and for the RAH we added MLA for the main hangs”
Andy May mixed FOH, Tim Franklin mixed IEMs for Quo whilst Danny Stead mixed IEMs for the strings, percussion, BVs, and pianist, and Damian Dyer was the MLA tech.
“The sound was fantastic, whilst obviously being quieter than the normal Quo show, the level Andy ran at was perfect, I’m really happy with the result, it was a great night, showing how musical the old favourites can be” Martin Connolly.
